BDA System Solutions
Meet ERRC requirements for the lowest possible cost
After 9/11, because if the inability for firefighters to radio-communicate properly due to all the smoke in the buildings, many localities enacted ordinances making it mandatory to meet wireless signal strength standards on first responder frequencies.
In 2016, the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) made significant changes to building fire codes. In light of these updates, a two-way radio communication enhancement or signal booster system will be required in all new buildings in Florida by 2025.
Seamless In-Building Communication Infrastructure
How to determine if a BDA System is Required?
Most jurisdictions require a BDA system installation for all new construction over 3 stories high, but now many cities are requiring them for existing properties as well. Today, property owners and property managers must be aware of their local jurisdiction’s requirements and consider a BDA survey to determine if they meet the required standards for Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC).
How BDA Systems Work?
BDA systems were created to enhance the signal that first responders use to communicate. A BDA system of amplifiers and antennas are installed within the structure to amplify and rebroadcast the radio signals with a stronger frequency. With a BDA system, signals are reliably transported throughout the entire facility, even in spaces like garages, elevators and stairwells which are usually considered dead zones.
Don’t be in violation of Signal Booster Code Requirements
In-building signal coverage statutes are based on standards set by organizations such as the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA): NFPA 72 Chapter 24 code requires 90 percent in-building two-way radio signal coverage, which jumps to 99 percent for critical areas like fire pump rooms, exit stairs and passageways, and elevator lobbies.
